This 5-day intensive programme was specially conducted for executives/ officials from various Malaysian federal port authorities. The programme is designed to train, educate and expose executives from all port regulatory authorities on the new commercial roles of ports and how efficient and effective port operating systems form a critical link in the total logistics chain. It also explores into the post-privatisation roles and functions of port regulatory authorities and the challenges faced by them.

The programme modules include:

• Container berth system and terminal operations
• General cargo berth system and operations
• Port performance measurement
• Handling dangerous goods
• Security, safety and health in ports
• Port planning
• Port free commercial zone
• Strategic port pricing
• Port marketing
• Use of IT in ports
• Post privatization roles of port regulatory authorities

All in all, 60% of the participants rated the programme as good, 35% rated excellent and only 5% rated satisfactory.
